The African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged the party members to go all out to campaign to make sure that their organisation does not get into the coalition government. Ramaphosa was speaking during the celebration of the 112 ANC Anniversary that was held at the Mbombela stadium in Mbombela earlier today.

THE ANC ANNIVERSARY

Delivering his keynote address, Ramaphosa said that the ruling party was aware of all the challenges that facing them and that they are working hard to fix them. "We are here to celebrate our past and look forward to the future. Our constitutional democracy continues to hold the country crisis. South Africa is a better country today because of the ANC. The ANC has brought the basic transformation in the country and that alone is a tremendous strive," he said. He added: "We have made sure that the citizens of South Africa enjoy the gains of freedom. When we are pushing for the renewal of the ANC, some members become angry because they want to continue to abuse the state resources." he said.

DECISIVE VICTORY

Ramaphosa further said that the ANC has brought about real change in the country. "One of our biggest provisions is seeing South Africans living a better life post 1994. The ANC has successfully introduced social relief grants to unemployed people. Nearly two million women are now owners of stated provided houses. The President said that the ANC must make sure that at least 50% of parliamentarians are women, adding that the ANC NEC will work towards a decisive victory during this election period. "We must work hard to win the elections with a majority to avoid coalitions. We will be launching our 2024 election manifesto next month. Many of the things that we want to do for our people will be discussed further during the manifesto launch. We must make sure that we work hard to win the elections with a majority to avoid coalitions," he said. Ramaphosa also took a swipe at opposition parties and the newly formed Umkhonto weSizwe Party led by former stateman Jacob Zuma. "Mabeze, sizobabonisa, asibesabi siyabafuna( They should come, we'll show them. We're not scared of them, we want them). We hear them going around saying the ANC has failed the people of South Africa but deep down they know that that is not true,". Ramaphosa said, referring to Jacob Zuma's endorsement of the MK Party and those he said were trying to sound radical in reference to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) policies.
