There was a tavern shooting in Jerusalem informal settlement,  Florida, which has four dead and the community believes the suspects are zama zamas.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. According to information from the police, the incident happened  in the early hours of Sunday morning in a shack turned tavern.SAPS spokeswoman Brenda Muridili said a group of unknown men entered the shebeen and started shooting randomly.

She said amongst the people who died is the alleged  owner of the tavern. "At this stage the motive of the shooting is unknown. The Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit and the Murder and Robbery team are investigating. We are appealing to anyone with information on this incident to kindly contact the SAPS crime line," said Muridili.
The ward councillor of Jerusalem Keke Tabane told Zimoja that they are living in terror of zama zamas.

ARMED AND MERCILESS

He blamed them for  most of the crime committed there. "They are well armed and merciless. They rob and then kill you after that they disappear without a trace. People live in fear and avoid being in the streets at night because they might be the next victim, he said. He said he was alerted in the community group about the shooting at the tavern. "When we arrived there were four dead bodies inside the tavern. They said there were three illegal miners who came and shot at people and said they will come for more.  It's not clear if they are linked to illegal mining," said Tabane.
