When two thugs from Seshego outside Polokwane in Limpopo were caught in the act of stealing, the mob gave them a punishment they will never forget. It is alleged that the pair was found stealing wheel caps at somebody's house on Wednesday afternoon.

STRIPPED AND HUMILIATED

Angered by their audacity of stealing in broad daylight, the alleged thugs were made to strip naked and kiss each in full view of the community of Zone 3. Even under aged kids were watching but the community didn't care.Bystanders and motorists took pictures and videos of the visibly humiliated men. 

TERRORISING THE COMMUNITY 

Seshego Crime Watch member, Vincent Kunutu, told ZiMoja that the suspects had been terrorising the community for a while and have always been wanted. He said a day before the incident, the two had stolen plasma TVs in the township. "These guys had turned our community into their playground and they had to be taught a lesson. Although I do acknowledge that it was inappropriate to do it in public with children watching, it was necessary. Everyone was angry at the time and no one would have listened or had the patience to find a discreet location to punish them. In the end the suspects were taken by the police," said Kunutu. 

GROWING TREND 

A similar incident happened two weeks ago where two men who had just hijacked a vehicle in the Eastern Cape were made to have sexual intercourse with each other. This seems to be a growing trend to humiliate the suspects but police say this is a punishable offence as no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands. SAPS spokesman Colonel Mavela Masondo said no one is above the law and allowed to take the law into their own hands because they themselves are now committing a crime.He said the community should call the police and let the law decide how to punish them The thugs can also open a case of crimen injuria against the mob.
