They are known for their impeccable hosting skills, great Italian cuisine, and diligent staff. Upmarket Wish On Florida restaurant in Durban was often frequented by A-listers and celebrities. But the sophisticated hangout has lost its posh clientele and will be closing its doors, permanently.

CLOSING SHOP

The decision to close shop comes after rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his friend and former manager Tebello "Tibz" Montsoane were gunned down in cold blood outside of the restaurant on 10 February by unknown hitmen. The restaurant has released a statement announcing the permanent closure. "It is with great sadness that we announce the imminent closure of Wish On Florida effective 10th April 2023." The establishment will be hosting The Last Supper on 10 April and never open again.?

NOT AN EASY DECISION

The owners confirm that after the tragic death, business suffered immensely after the two men were killed on that fateful night. "In light of the tragic event on our doorstep, we have experienced a severe downturn in business which leaves the directors with no other choice but to close the business permanently as the brand equity of Wish On Florida has been deeply hindered." They say this was not an easy decision to make considering that the staff, whose financial being, was dependent on the business.
