Who stabbed Chris Hani's killer in prison?

The late Chris Hani

COSATU, ANC and SACP mobilised in their numbers to make it clear that they are not happy with the decision that was made by the Constitutional Court to give Chris Hani's killer parole.DCS spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo said the Minister for Justice and Correctional services Ronald Lamola  will be the one to officially announce they day which Walus will be released.
"The minister will decide and communicate because with lifers it is the minister who makes the decision and then communicate with the centre where the inmate is kept .Thereafter the inmate will be released."

WHO STABBED WALUS

He said the he could not disclose much about the profile of the person who stabbed Walus yesteday afternoon. He denied claims that the suspect is a former MKMVA member. "We make it a point to know a person's background when he is detained in the centre. For now all I can confirm is that he is a former trainee soldier who was arrested for murder and attempted murder. He is currently serving a life sentence and knew Walus very well.' He said although inmates serving life sentences are kept in single cells they meet during breakfast, lunch or dinner time."I can confirm that the incident happened when the inmates were let out to dish up for dinner. The suspect stabbed Walus on the upper body and we still don't know what the motive for his actions was because they've known each other for years. It is up to the victim to open a criminal case and only then the fate of the perpetrator will be decided,"said Nxumalo.

HIS CONDITION

He said Walus was still under prison healthcare and is stable. The Chairperson of the ANC Panyaza Lesufi who was part of the March said he suspected that Walus would be released today."We wanted him to find us out here when he does his walk of shame coming out of the prison. What he did in 1993 will not be forgotten and he will not get a heroes welcome here in our country. We are expressing our dissatisfaction in the manner the he killed Chris Hani and brought disruption in our country. He tried to block the democracy that he is ironically using to get out of prison. Our presence here is not to challenge a certain judge or constitutional court,it's just to see the look on his face when he walks outside of prison,'said Lesufi.

WALUS MUST REMAIN IN PRISON

The SACP's general-secretary Solly Mapaila said they've taken legal action against the ConCourt's decision and the court papers were filed on Tuesday."We have taken legal action, our lawyers filed papers with the Constitutional Court, and the High Court, and also to the Minister of Correctional Services to indicate that we have taken the following steps and we want the stay of execution order until this matter is heard.' Walus assassinated Hani in 1993 and served 28 years in prison.10 days ago the ConCourt ordered that he be released on parole.
