UPDATE: Another delay in Senzo Meyiwa's murder trial

The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa trial maintains the people in the house when Senzo died could have taken the stand today

State prosecutor Advocate George Baloyi told the court that the witness that was due to take the stand today could not make it to court, therefore requesting the matter to stand down.
"We struggled to secure a flight for the witness from Durban to Pretoria because they were all oversubscribed . However the witness will be flying in this afternoon. I also tried to bring in an alternative witness who called and asked we reschedule," said Baloyi.

UNNECESSARY DELAYS

Baloyi requested that the matter be postponed to tomorrow so they could start with witness from Durban and finish, before continuing with the one from Johannesburg. He explained that the court would now be dealing with witnesses who were in the house when Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed. The defence of four of the accused, advocate TT Thobane, was not happy with the information brought forward by the state claiming it's a delay tactic.
"it makes no sense to postpone the case because of one witness yet there are others that are on standby. The state was supposed to verify over the weekend whether or not all its witnesses were on board and then communicate. This matter has until Friday before Its adjourned to return in November, "said Baloyi, adding, "The witness' safety is of concern and we don't want to readily disclose which witnesses we would like to call."

KELLY AND FAMILY COULD HAVE TAKEN THE STAND

?
Baloyi explained that they also had issues with the unavailability of the interpreter, which Thobane responded that there are other interpreters that can get the job done. Advocate Zandile Mshololo, the defence of one of the five accused objected to the postponement. She said all the people that were in the house when Meyiwa was killed are in Johannesburg. She said Kelly's mother , Zandi Khumalo, Kelly Khumalo and Longwe Twala are Joburg based and could be called. Court proceedings will resume tomorrow morning
