NORMAL
Students who spoke to ZiMoja said that it was normal thing for them to get robbed by the group of thugs which are famously known as Amadabuka. The group has allegedly been terrorising the students from UniZulu for years with some students losing their lives during the attacks. "Students at Vesca Residential are still traumatised and some phoned their parents to come fetch them as they feared for their lives. They were on a rampage as they didn't rob one residence, they targeted residentials around kwaDlangezwa. We fear for our lives as those thugs are always armed and they do as they please. We need police guarding thai residence all the time,' the student said.
Former Vesca Residence owner Siyabonga Caluza told ZiMoja that Amadabuka were the other reason that he sold the place. "It was impossible for me to keep my business as they kept breaking into my place and robbing my clients. It is a problem that need to be addressed by local cops and leaders. We cannot have a group of people terrorising students who are here to study to better their lives. This must stop," said Caluza. Caluza further said that students were rescued by a local security company known as Amabhokobhoko that are safeguarding the local taxi business.
