Two more bodies discovered in Krugersdorp where the 19 bodies were found

Police are in Krugersdorp trying to piece together what happened after the gruesome discovery of 21 bodies

There could be more bodies other than the 19 bodies of zama zamas that were discovered in Krugersdorp yesterday afternoon. SAPS spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridili told Zimoja that the police were alerted around 3pm about the gruesome discovery and the police went back this morning and have discovered two more bodies. She said it seemed like the bodies were moved from wherever they died and placed where they could be found. "We have opened an inquest docket. We do not suspect any foul play."

POSTMORTEM TO BE DONE

Muridili said the alleged illegal miners were  operating in an active mine and the police will wait for a postmortem to determine the cause of death. At this stage the deceased haven't been identified so the police cannot confirm their nationality. Last month six men also believed to be zama zamas  were found dead and mutilated in open veld next to the N1 highway, near Bosmont and New Canada. The bodies had gunshot wounds and the police said they could not confirm the  motive for the shooting.

STILL A MYSTERY

Gauteng Provincial commissioner Lieutenant- General Elias Mawela said he  instructed the Johannesburg district to mobilise all the necessary resources, including the K9 Unit and Forensic Services, to find evidence as well as the suspects. So far no word of arrests has surfaced. The Krugersdorp area has been a hive of crime activity since August when eight women who were shooting a video were raped by illegal miners. It remains a mystery who raped them because the DNA of the men that were arrested did not match that of the victims. They were charged with violating immigration laws because they did not have the relevant documents to be in the country.Different townships are filled with undocumented zama zamas. If they are not fighting amongst themselves for territory, they are blamed for the gruesome crimes taking place.
