Turning boys to better men

Nick Nzama wants to see a better generation of men through his initiative Boys 2 Men

After his son was sentenced to life imprisonment, Durban businessman Nick Nzama deemed it more important than ever to continue with an initiative that equips young boys into becoming  better men in the future. His son, at the time 19 years, killed his sugarmama and teacher who was 67 years in 2017.

BOYS2MEN

The tragedy saw Nick Nzama taking matters into his hands and wanting to shape the future generation of men. Nzama said that he started the Boys2Men in 2011.         "I started this programme in 2011 because of my background and my past experiences in life. The initial idea is to make that boys become better leaders in future. Our young boys are damaged because of the environment they grew up under. It is very important to make sure that we equip them with better understanding of being a better man," he said.

ANGER ISSUES

Nzama said that there are many young boys that are suffering but are unable to voice out what is eating them up on daily basis."No one want to speak out about abuse they are suffering in their households and do unlawful acts out of frustration. They don't want to talk about the challenges they are facing at home. We must equip them to be better leaders. We are trying to make young boys understand that it is not wrong to cry and to vent when you are going through a lot. It is okay to speak out when you are not feeling well," he said.

MONTHLY SEMINARS

Nzama further said that every month they host seminars across the country where they make sure that boys become better men than their fathers."When we host these seminars we discover that many of the young boys are angry because of absent fathers. In some instances mothers also play a role in them becoming aggressive because they cut them off their fathers," he said.
