Touch is a move!

Speculation is rife

As they say, politics is not for the faint hearted. This comes after it  emerged that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has allegedly rejected the resignation letter of deputy president David Mabuza. According to Sunday reports, Ramaphosa rejected Mabuza's resignation saying that Mabuza must stay in his role until further notice.Mabuza confirmed the news of stepping down as the Deputy president yesterday during a family funeral that was held in Mpumalanga.Attempts to get comment from the Presidency spokesperson Vincent Mgwenya and ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu proved fruitless as their phones rang unanswered.

MAKING SPACE

In his speech Mabuza said that he was stepping down as the Deputy president to make way for Mashatile who was nominated in the ANC's 55th National Conference that was held in  Nasrec in Johannesburg in December."I am making a space for the one elected at the conference because I can see that he is also making a few moves. So now I am also in a rush to give them space. I spoke to the president and told him I would step down. The president will say that Mabuza has resigned. He and I had an agreement. In said I would respect the president until I leave and I think those left will continue to respect him."

In the meantime the  ANC Parliamentary caucus has confirmed the resignation of four members of party. ANC Chief Whip Penny Majodina confirmed the news that Tshilidzi Munyai, Mervyn Firms, Masefako Dikgale and Matshidiso Mfikoe have resigned. "The four former MPs have dedicated their lives to the service of the people of South Africa and the ANC caucus wishes them well in their future endeavours.
