Toss speaks about maintaining good mental health and being the best in the game

Amapiano singer Toss recently signed a deal with Billiato

He has only been in the mainstream music industry for one year and he is already a big deal. Amapiano artist Pholoso "Toss" Masombuka (23) has some of the biggest hits playing on the radio and blasting at events across the country. His latest song Tetema with Young Stunna is already topping the charts. He also recently bagged an ambassadorship with Cassper Nyovest's brand Billiato. Toss tells ZiMoja that he has always been a fan of Cassper. "I grew up listening to him. I have always been a fan since I was in grade nine. I love and respect his work ethic. For him to call me and ask me to be the face of the brand affirms that I'm doing something right," Toss says. "People know my brand represents anything authentic, black excellence."

LOVING FAME

He first found fame through his hit song Umlando before he even officially released the song. TikTok went viral across the world with people doing the Umlando challenge. When fame struck, the demand became high. Since Umlando came out less than a year ago, he has been booked back-to-back.

It might have come overnight, but Toss is not scared of fame. "I Iove fame. It enables me to feed my family first and foremost and seeing people happy when I enter a room makes me happy. I bring people happiness and I love it."

HEALTH IS WEALTH

When the bookings started coming in, he knew it was meant to be but wanted to grab the opportunity with both hands. "I took every booking that came my way. At times, I had five booking a night I couldn't believe that it could harm my health." Last year Toss had a breakdown due to fatigue and collapsed on stage. "I didn't think it was possible to fall ill or collapse due to hard work," he says. "Even today I am shocked that it happened because I take care of myself." After the incident, Toss took a month off to rest. This year, he is doing things differently. "Yeah, I am watching how I do things this year. I don't ever want to go through that again. I was not aware you could get fatigued. I learned my lesson. I'm in a good space mentally and physically." he adds. Last year taught him to also take care of his mental well-being. "I am good now. His plan for this year is to grow his brand. "I wanna be number one in the country."
