It seems that the drama on BET’s is far from over. After weeks of shooting back-to-back, reading scripts and shooting from early mornings to late nights, the cast and crew of Queendom have still not been paid their salary for two months. The staff previously shot the production with Clive Morris Productions but downed tools following non-payment.
MONEY PROBLEMS
Actors are on a stay-away and refuse to return to work until Clive Morris Productions pays them the outstanding salaries and they are guaranteed that going forward, they will not deal with non-payment. The production founder shared messages with staff saying they are in the process of gathering funds to pay off the debt. “What I can tell you is that we are not sitting on the money and deciding not to pay people; we are actively working non-stop to get the funding to pay everyone,” Clive wrote. Furious actors told ZiMoja they were tired of covering up for the company. “It’s a bit unfair. We love Clive, but he has overdone it this time,” one actor said. “How many times do we have to go to the media or keep quiet?” the actor asked.
THE TAKE OVER
The production, which includes top actors Linda Mtoba, Samkelo Ndlovu, and Hamilton Dlamini, is on hold until further updates. Seasoned actors Siyabonga Twala and Sindi Dlathu have since quit the production due to the alleged non-payment. “They have every right to do so,” the source revealed. “You are not dealing with upcoming talent who are looking for exposure.” Both Sindi and Thwala have not responded to queries on the production. Clive Morris did not responded to several calls, emails and text messages. Executive Producer at Clive Morris, Dominic Gumede, said he had nothing to say. “I have nothing to say. I have said enough."
