Seventeen-year old Tshiamo Masikane from Lefaragatlhe, Rustenburg went missing on New Year's Day after he went looking for his lost phone. He was later found three weeks later in Cashan, Rustenburg by an unknown man.
FOUND DEAD
Tshiamo was discovered by a passerby who saw a body hanging from a tree on the 21st of January. North West SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Adele Myburgh explained that because the body was badly decomposed, DNA tests had to be performed. She said Tshiamo's family sought services of a private laboratory to perform DNA tests in order to obtain quick results. The results confirmed the unimaginable that it was their child who had been found dead. "The body was in a decomposed state. No foul play is being suspected at this stage. I can also confirm DNA results taken from this body confirmed the identity of this person.
INVESTIGATION
Myburgh said a judicial inquiry was being conducted in order to determine the cause of death.She said the search is over and although the family took to social media to ask for assistance in locating their son, they've since asked for privacy to deal with the death and refused to comment any further on the matter.
