Three learners from a special-needs school in Krugersdorp, West Rand have been arrested for continuously gang raping an 18-year-old fellow male learner. It is alleged that the suspects aged 17, 18 and 19 started bullying the victim in November last year when they demanded that he gives them money or his lunch box.

 It is alleged that when the victim did not have a nice lunch box or at least R50 to give his bullies, they will drag him to the school toilet and take turn raping him. The victim feared informing his teachers or family about the abuse as he was threatened with death by the trio. His family only noticed when he started to steal money from them to give to the bullies so he could avoid being raped. He had also become reserved and refrained from engaging with men or strangers he didn't trust, and this had become worrying because he was bubbly and liked to be in the company of others. 

 POLICE INVESTIGATE RAPE CASE

Kagiso SAPS spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane said they opened a rape case after the victim’s grandmother who is the boy ‘s legal guardian noticed a change in his behaviour. “The case is investigated by Krugersdorp Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit." Sebonyane said. He said the docket was later allocated to Sergeant Mamokopi Gadebe who managed to arrest all three suspects. "The suspects were  detained and are currently in police custody and Investigation continues. The suspects will appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrate Court soon," said Sebonyane
