Reality TV star and musitian, Thembabroly Mabaso and his friends were booked to perform at a Johannesburg nightclub whenthey were allegedly attacked.
ASSAULT
Waking up still in disbelief the next day. Thembabroly tells ZiMoja that he was booked at several gigs on the evening of 20 December. They had left one nightclub and went to another. "We were having a great time at the club," he says. "That is until a drunk bouncer assaulted a girl for putting her feet on the couch. He got physical with her and we tried to stop the fight but it got out of hand," he adds.
HOSPITALISED
Themba says the club management tried to intervene. "Other security tried to stop him but he started fighting all of us. There were about four of us and one of the guys had to be admitted into the hospital after being badly injured." Themba says he is still in the process of going to the club to check security footage. "We still need to open a case, we need to get the footage from the club and I need to go see my friend in hospital because he was badly injured," he says.
VIOLENCE
He admits that violence is not a solution, but they could not let a man lay a hand on a woman. "I know fighting is not the solution but we were never going to let another man assault a woman, especially for something so small. It’s a pity someone had to land in hospital. I just hope that he will be okay." Themba says he also needs to do a follow-up on the rest of his booking fee. "You obviously get given a deposit when being booked for an event. I need to get the rest of my payment. All these things still need to be done, but my biggest worry right now is that my friend recovers."
