The sentencing of the men accused of killing businessman Wandile Bozwana postponed

Murder accused Vusi "Khekhe" Mathibeli

The sentencing proceedings in the trial of four men convicted of the murder of the North West businessman, Wandile Bozwana has postponed again at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday.

SENTENCING PROCEEDINGS

The sentencing proceedings are expected to continue in the same North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Thursday morning. The matter was postponed yesterday, to allow the defence to prepare for the cross-examination of Bozwana’s brother. Bozwana was killed in a hail of bullets at the Garsfontein offramp east of Pretoria in October 2015. His colleague Mpho Baloyi sustained multiple gunshot wounds. National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana confirmed that the matter has been postponed. "The matter appeared yesterday for sentencing proceedings, it was rolled over today because Vusi Khekhes?s legal representative was unwell. Today the matter was rolled over to tomorrow for continuation of sentencing proceedings," she said. Mamelodi?s notorious and feared criminal Vusi ?Khekhe? Mathibela, Sipho Patrick Hudla, Robert Mutapa and Bonginkosi Paul Khumalo were convicted of Bozwana’s murder in June last year.

CONSULTATIONS

The state had submitted before that the probation officer?s pre-sentencing reports compiled after consultations with Wandile Bozwana?s murderers, taxi boss Vusi ?Khekhe? Mathibela and his three co-accused were not assisting the court as it prepared to hand down the sentence. The four men have been found guilty of gunning down Bozwana, a North West businessman, on the Garsfontein off-ramp in Tshwane in October 2015. They were also convicted of attempting to murder Bozwana?s partner, Mpho Baloyi. Bozwana was gunned down in 2015 on the Garsfontein off-ramp off the N1 when he and Baloyi returned from shopping.
