The community of Inanda township in KwaZulu-Natal is living in fear as the terror of the West Gang group continues in the area. Since This has led to the police to launch a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who shot and killed three people and attempted to kill another at Nhlungwane area in Inanda in the North of Durban in the early hours of Tuesday.

DRUG OPERATIONS 

It is alleged that the three people that were shot and killed died because of the ongoing turf war over drug operations in the notorious township. The ongoing turf wars over the operation of drugs sale in the township has been going on since 2022. According to the previous articles written by Zimoja, the police have killed over 30 criminals which are said to be part of the West gang that had been terrorizing the community with murders, rapes and robberies in the area. The group is known as the West Gang, and it is a group that consist of young boys from the ages of 14 to 30 years old.

POLICE COMMENDED

Early this year, when the police shot and killed criminals during an exchange of fire, provincial police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi commended the police officers for remaining composed during the gun battle. “We will continue to hunt down these ruthless criminals who are terrorising innocent civilians in Inanda. It is obvious they are hell-bent on taking down police officers and will not submit themselves to face the might of the law,” he said .
