Tenders worth over R14 million for ANC bigwig

Thembisa Hospital has been cited as fertile ground for corruption after an ANC bigwig scored tenders worth over R14 million
Facbook

Murdered whistle-blower's death was not in vain as Thembisa Hospital continues to prove  it is riddled with corruption. The DA Gauteng Health Shadow MEC Jack Bloom has labeled the Gauteng Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi as ignorant following the ongoing corruption displayed at the hospital . Bloom explained that the hospital was being treated as a quick money making scheme by ANC bigwigs at the expense of patients who are deprived of quality health care.
"it has come to my attention that an ANC Treasurer General of the Ekurhuleni region has been awarded multiple multimillion rand tenders at the hospital over the past three years," said Bloom.

FRAUDULENT CONTRACTS

Bloom said Sello Sekhokho has three companies linked to the hospital - Kaizen Projects, Nokokhokho Medical Supplies and Bollanoto Security that got R2.8 million in contracts in 2019, R4.2 million in 2020, and  R7.5 million last year when Dr Ashley Mthunzi took over as hospital CEO. Mthunzi has since been  suspended by the Department following the revelation that murdered whistleblower Babita Deokaran had flagged R850 million worth of contracts at the hospital as "possibly fraudulent."

OVER_PRICING

Bloom complained that some of the medical equipment sold by Sekhokho to the hospital was ridiculously overpriced.
"It is strange that Sekhokho's companies sold such a variety of goods to the hospital, including cleaning material, office supplies and even groceries!"                  .According to Health MEC Mokgethi, "Current management at Tembisa Hospital is not aware of any irregularities with regards to these companies." She continues to say "The Department, through its risk management, will conduct an audit on payments made at the facility. This will then provide evidence of transactions that may require forensic investigation should there be evidence enough to link up officials who may have conducted irregularities. The process of conducting forensic investigation is centralised in the office of the Premier." Bloom said that It's a heinous crime to steal from sick and poor people, but this is effectively what is happening. "I wonder how they sleep at night," said Bloom. He believes that this is Premier Makhura's biggest failure.
