She innocently left home and went up to the mountain to pray but fell asleep while she was at it on Monday evening. It is alleged that the 14-year-old girl was praying close to a mine dump in extension 8 in Kagiso on the West Rand, which is not too far from her home. SAPS spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the victim slept throughout the night unharmed until sunrise.  

WOKEN BY STRANGERS  

Sibiya told ZiMoja that early the next morning, the victim suddenly noticed three unknown men standing next to her. The suspects took her to a shack at Sinqobile where she was locked up and left alone. "Late that night, the suspects returned and undressed her and took turns raping her. She was kept in the shack until the next day when her father came to her rescue," said Sibiya. 

COMMUNITY ALERT 

Sibiya said the victim's parents became worried when she didn't return home and went around the community to search for her. "The father allegedly got a tip off from residents about his daughter's whereabouts. The community said the suspects were acting very weird but at the same time excited about something. They were seen when they arrived with the victim, but no one knew who it was and what they had planned to do." Sibiya said the father then arrived at the suspects' shack after being directed by the community. "He opened the door using unknown instrument and rescued his daughter, but the suspects were not around," said Sibiya. He said Kagiso police arrested the three suspects aged 18, 19 and 20 and charged with them with rape. " The suspects were arrested at their places of residence. A case of rape has been opened at Kagiso police by the victim's father. All three suspects have been detained at Kagiso SAPS and will appear before the Kagiso Magistrates Court soon.
