He had been their treasurer for ... and they trusted him with their hard-earned cash. Members of the Sisterhood Stokvel group are reeling with disbelief after two of their trusted members of their group disappeared with their R460 000 Stokvel money.
DISAPPEARANCE OF THE TRUSTED TREASURER
The 34 stokvel group members which hails from Slovo Park in Coronation in Johannesburg said that they are appealing to anyone who may have information with the disappearance of their trusted treasurer.
According to the Soweto based Jozi FM radio station the group members were looking forward to a wonderful Christmas as they were supposed to split the money on the 20th of December.
The group members said that they were paying between R1000 to R3000 a month.
Stokvel members Matshediso Kepi said it was painful that she was going to have a black Christmas with her family.
"This is very painful since we have been putting this money hoping that it was going to help us this festive season. Our problems began last week when we were supposed to meet and discuss the way to split the money after we had been saving it the whole year. We have reported the matter to the cops the sisters disappeared without a trace. We tried calling them and even went as far as going to search for them I their family jouse but they were not there," Kepi said.
GROUP LEFT WITH NOTHING
Kepi further said that they are now left with nothing after the disappearance of their treasurer with their money.
"My plan was that I was going to take my family out on a holiday before everything else. Now we are now left with nothing and I don?t even know how am I going to explain this to my husband and the kids. I don?t know what to tell them as they expected me to be a provider this festive. We are now left with nothing and there is nothing we can about them since they disappeared on us," he said.
