Their messy divorce has seen them go in and out of court for allegations of physical, emotional, and financial abuse. The case has eventually drawn to an end at the Johannesburg High court with Radio and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo withdrawing the charges against ex-lover, actor, and radio host Mohale Motaung.?
CASE WITHDRAWN?
In the case, Mohale (the defendant) denied being legally married to Somizi (Plaintiff). In the court papers seen by ZiMoja, it states that, "The defendant denies that he 'entered into a valid customary on 28 September 2019 at Johannesburg', with the plaintiff, which marriage still subsists, and the matrimonial regime is in community of property." It also states that, "Save to deny the existence of the marriage, the defendant admits that the relationship between the parties is broken-down irretrievably and there is no reasonable prospect of restoring it, for the following reasons: 5.1. the plaintiff abused the defendant emotionally; 5.2. the plaintiff was unfaithful to the defendant; 5.4. the plaintiff damaged the defendant's motor vehicle; and5.5. the plaintiff assaulted the defendant.6. The pictures of the aforesaid damages on the defendant's motor vehicle and assault are annexed to this plea marked MM1 and MM2."
?NOT A HAPPY EVER AFTER?
Somizi withdrawing the case, has been ordered by the court to pay ex-lover Mohale's legal fees. "Kindly take notes that the plaintiff withdraws the actions instituted against the defendant and tenders the defendant's taxed and/or agreed party and party costs,' the legal document reads.
Somizi & Mohale: The Union, was labelled the Union of the Year and set a then-record for the most first-day views on Showmax at launch. Their relationship was also a central focus of Living The Dream With Somizi S4, which won the 2020 SAFTA for Best Structured or Docu-Reality Show. ?
TELLING IT ALL?
When the couple went their separate ways, issues of abuse and adultery resurfaced. Somizi addressed his pending divorce from Mohale in the much-anticipated season 5 of his reality TV show, Living The Dream With Somizi. In a tell-all interview with Aldrin Sampear, Mohale revealed that a lot was being said about him both true and untrue. "I initially had no intentions to publicly speak of the events that have occurred, due to an agreement I had with the other parties involved. But when the agreement was dishonoured by the other party, it became paramount that I tell my truth as I know it.' He revealed that he was happy until certain things started to happen in the relationship. "Like the control and constantly being reminded that I bring nothing to the table except my pretty face,' he said. "I remember him saying that he needs to mess up my face.'
When ZiMoja reached out for comment from Somizi about the allegations, he did not respond. Mohale's manager says that he is not yet ready to speak about the court case.
