Siyabonga Ngwekazi answers his spiritual calling

TV presenter and podcaster Siyabong Ngwekazi is now a sangoma

He is one of many South African celebrities who found their calling after fame. He joins the likes of Boity Thulo, Gigi Lamayne, Luyanda Potelwa, Phelo Bala, Baby Cele, and Nandi Nyembe to name a few. Siyabonga Ngwekazi ,also known as Scoop Makhathini ,is also now on a spiritual path.

HIS TAKE

He was introduced to the world of show business in the early 2000s as a bubbly and outspoken host. He has never shied away from delving into issues regarding spirituality and religion. But this time, he has even gone further into the world of African spirituality and is a sangoma. A few years ago, Siyabonga received backlash after commenting on how almost every celebrity is becoming a sangoma. "So, Christianity says, don't worship ancestors and don't consult sangomas. Kodwa the creator created the sangoma and gave him/her the gift. How sway?' Followed by "All of a sudden, every Tom, Dick, and Thandi is having a calling. I'm just gonna relax and watch the liars play themselves out,' he shared. "The ancestral lashing will be unavoidable. Jhb folk will bite anything, even sh*t that can't be bitten or faked. Yonke into bafuna uyenza i-fashion (They want to make everything fashionable).'

ONE OF MANY

A close friend reveals to Zimoja that the podcaster has accepted the calling. "He is on a spiritual path. A lot of negative things have been happening in his life, only to realise it was because of the calling,' the friend says. "Scoop accepted the calling, and he is doing what needs to be done but it's not easy.' The friend says he is not keen to speak about it as yet but he engages those close to him. "It's tough but, he is doing what needs to be done.' Scoop did not wish to comment on the matter.
