Actress and media personality Simphiwe Ngema has been shamed on social media after it was revealed that she allegedly visited convicted Facebook rapist, Thabo Bester in April 2018 in prison.
VISITING BESTER
In a statement by the actress-turned-singer which she has since removed from her social media, Simphiwe justified the jail visit Thabo Bester, who used the alias Tom Motsepe. She stated that the reason for the visit was because he seemed, "connected and portrayed himself to be in the entertainment industry' and that he had introduced himself to her and others as TK Motsepe. "He seemed well connected and was able to organise meetings and big events which I and many other public figures were booked for. Till this day I was never paid for some of the events that I was booked for by the 21st Century,' reads the statement.
FREEBIES
This revelation opened a can of worms as Ngema got criticism for the association with Bester. One businessman revealed that she asked him to make a kitchen for her mother worth R200 000 for likes on social media. According to the owner of Grand Kitchen Designs, Ngema's mother's kitchen had burnt down when she approached him to do the kitchen in exchange for publicity and exposure. "She wanted this kitchen for her moms and it cost 200k. I was going to spend 200k for her exposure, he revealed. "She said the kitchen burnt down. Bester and fire. It all makes sense. Celebrities and the word collaborate,' he bantered. The owner went on to share screenshots of their conversation.
