Former Miss South Africa 2020 winner and activist Shudufhadzo Musida has recently joined forces with DKMS Africa in the fight against Cancer.

FIGHTING FOR A CAUSE

 Sharing her new venture, Shudufhadzo says she joined the fight against blood cancers and blood disorders in South Africa. "I look forward to helping raise awareness of the urgent need of diversifying the global donor registry,' she says. "Life-threatening illnesses such as blood cancer affect entire families. The financial burden, impact on mental health, and access to medical care for diagnosed patients and their families are immeasurable.' Through her partnership, she aims to shine the light and ensure patients receive holistic support and asks that people join in the fight by registering to become blood stem cell donors.

DONATING BLOOD

 DKMS is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders. In 2020, the organisation partnered with the South African Sunflower Fund in a partnership that had the potential to change the history of stem cell transplants in South Africa and globally. In March 2021, an amalgamation of the entities was announced, birthing DKMS Africa. Having been around for 51 years and saving lives in seven countries on five continents, DKMS Africa continues to make a change. According to the organisation, In South Africa, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer every 72 minutes and a blood stem cell transplant is their best chance for survival.
