The family of the late legendary jazz singer Gloria Bosman have confirmed her death and appealed for space during their mourning period. “It is with profound sadness that we share that in the early hours of this morning [Tuesday], we lost the rock of our family, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Gloria Bosman, who came to fame for her soulful and soothing voice. After a short illness, she transcended peacefully at her home surrounded by family,” read the statement.

?SHE DEVOTED HER LIFE TO MUSIC?

The family described the Amaqwati hitmaker's devotion to her craft as incredible and that she gave her all to her music and fans whenever she performed.

“She had devoted her life, not just to her family, but to her music. She was loved and adored by many here in SA and beyond its borders. Her fans were part of her large and extended family that she always put her best stage performances for,” said the statement. The family also mentioned that details of Bosman’s memorial and funeral services would be released during the week. But most importantly the family has appealed to members of the media and public to respect their privacy during these trying times. “We appeal for your compassion and space during this time of overwhelming grief. We welcome and appreciate your prayers in the difficult times and days ahead of us,” read the statement.

TRIBUTES POURING IN

 Meanwhile celebrities and industry colleagues, close friends and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the award-winning musician.  Sipho Hotstix Mabuse tweeted: "So sad, gutted, rest in peace my dear friend #gloriabosman, thank you for sharing the stage and sharing your gift with us all, am shattered – Love and respect Sipho and the hotband (sic)."

 Southern African Music Rights Organisation (Samro) also paid tribute to the legendary singer “In the short period that she was on the board, she added a perspective that comprised a rich blend of insights on member aspirations and the direction that our organisation should continue to march towards,”

LATEST ALBUM 

 She released her last album titled Gloria Bosman Live on February 28. She described the album as family oriented and dedicated two of the 11 songs in the album to her granddaughter Lisakhanya and her late parents. Bosman is survived by her only daughter Siphesihle and one granddaughter Lisakhanya.
