The police need help so that they can arrest two rapists targeting unsuspecting women in the West Rand. The Carletonville Family Violence and Child Protection Unit released two identity kits of rape suspects believed to be involved in two separate incidents that happened at Waterpan and Simunye in the West Rand. Police have also warned the public to be careful when it comes to hiking for lifts in these areas.
WOMAN KIDNAPPED
According to SAPS spokeswoman Sergeant Linkie Lefakane the victim was on a hiking spot in panyapanya going to Simunye when she was picked up by an alleged black car with two occupants. She said they drove to Simunye and just after the bridge, the driver stopped the vehicle and went out to relieve himself. "The passenger allegedly took out a firearm and pointed it at the victim ordering her to undress. The driver got back inside the vehicle and raped the victim before leaving her there," said Lefakane.

Lefakane explained that the suspect is said to be +-36-40 years of age, medium build, very dark in complexion, and was wearing a black and red jacket, navy jeans, and sandals. Meanwhile in Waterpan, which is 10 minutes away from Simunye, a 55-year-old victim was asleep at her place when she heard the sound of someone knocking followed by a window breaking. "The victim said she ran out of the house screaming for help but the suspect caught and severely beat her before and rapingg her. The suspect is about 32-36 years of age, dark in complexion and medium build, and was wearing a red baseball cap. He has two gold on his front teeth and a silver earring on his right ear.We are appealing to the public to avoid walking alone during the night to avoid being targeted and I urge the community to increase security and lighting measures in and around their homes to deter criminals from easily accessing their homes," said Lefakane
