Rapist sentenced to life behind bars


A man who is accused of heinous crime was sentemced to life imprisonment.


HEINOUS CRIMES


Lethlogonolo Mothlapeng (35) was found guilty of ten counts of heinous crimes committed in Magaliesburg in the in Gauteng on Friday. National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindile Mjonondwane said Mothlapeng was convicted on multiple charges, including two counts of kidnapping and rape.


EXPLICITY


Mjonondwane said that Mothlapeng was convicted of intimidating his victims with with a firearm and child pornography, creation, possession and using children to create explicit content. Mothlapeng further charged with forcing children to witness sexual offences on two separate occasions. "The severity of the charges, Mothlapeng pleaded not guilty. The state argued that the accused created child pornographic pictures depicting the girls engaging in sexual acts with him. Furthermore, he raped them in each other?s presence while they were in his room. Mothlapeng attempted to intimidate the victims by threatening to share explicit content on social media if they reported the incident. "The victims promptly reported the incident to the police and the police apprehended him at his residence the same day. During the trial, Senior State Advocate Rachel Kau called one of the victims to testify." she said.


DISTRESS


Mjonondwane said that the minor at the time of the offence, shared her distressing experience. "She described how the accused forced her and her friend into his bed, where he subjected them to a traumatic and exploitative ordeal, including exposure to pornographic mater, she said.
