The pastor who paid lobola for 22 women in his church is now attending to multiple court cases after some of the women claimed that the man of God swindled them of their money and cars. It’s alleged that Pastor Zamani Shozi of the Galilee Church of God in Zion in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal paid lobola for different women with an aim to scam them.

LOBOLA PAYMENTS

According to a Durban based Zulu weekly newspaper, Shozi was attending to another matter in KwaDukuza Magistrates Court on Tuesday last week where he is facing charges of assault. It was alleged that Shozi assaulted the women whom he paid lobola in her private part. Magistrate M Blose postponed the matter to Friday for further investigation into the matter. "Your matter is postponed so that investigators are given more time to work on it thoroughly," said Blose. Blose further said that Shozi’s bail application will be heard in another date to be announced in his next appearance as there are things that need to be verified. It is alleged that Shozi beat the woman after she discovered that he has paid lobola to other woman in his church and scammed them.

VICIOUS MAN OF GOD

When the woman who cannot be named was asked for comment, she described Shozi as the vicious man who have no sympathy. "Shozi is very heartless. In my entire life, this is the first time I was involved with someone who is very abusive like that. He’s abusive and he doesn’t behave like a pastor," she said. On Thursday last week. Shozi appeared at the Pinetown Magistrates Court on charges of money laundering. His case was postponed to next month. In May 24, Shozi is further expected to appear at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court where he is facing charges of stealing four minibus taxis of another woman he paid lobola and umembeso. It further emerged that there is another woman on the same church who asked not to be mentioned who is accusing Shozi of stealing her R85 000. The case was opened against Shozi it is still unknown as to how the matter was withdrawn.
