Orlando Pirates superfan Goodenough Sithole has died

Goodenough Sithole who is the Orlando Pirates superfan has passed away

Orlando Pirates super fan Goodenough "Five Skippas" Sithole has died at the age of 55. Goodenough, real name Sphamandla Sithole,had been in hospital since last year July and passed away this past Thursday.

HOSPITALISED FOR MONTHS 

The family of Orlando Pirates' number one fan says he became ill in June last year while living in Soweto. His mother Thokozani Mabaso tells ZiMoja that they took him back home to Dundee to help him recover. "The hospital informed us that he died on Thursday. He was not feeling well for a long time. We were hoping he would recover and come back home.' Without revealing the cause of his death, his family will miss seeing him shine on television. "He was our celebrity. He was the first person to become famous in the family and that made us proud,' Thokozani says. 

CONDOLENCES FROM PIRATES

Orlando Pirates have shared their condolences to his family via social media. "Rest in peace, 5. On behalfof the extended Orlando Pirates family, we convey our heartfelt and deepestsympathy to the Sithole family.' Goodenough rose to fame after fans shared histelevision interviews on social media showing his imperfect English. His mostmemorable interview was with Deshi Bhaktawer in 2011. His love for OrlandoPirates made him stand out. For all games, he selected unique outfits along

TRIBUTES

Football fans, celebrities and supporters have shared their messages of condolences on Twitter. Sports commentator Andile Ncube wrote: "You were such a sport and you loved this thing called soccer. Rest in power. Sending healing to your family. This will go down as one of my favourites. Thank you for letting us laugh with you.' Mhlaba Wami said,: "He certainly made his mark in the world. His English has inserted itself into our daily vernacular. Legend.' Former Orlando Pirates number one fan Mama Joy Chauke said,"Rest well Soldier. I have known you, we pushed this passion together. Dr Goodenough,5 Skipas, 1 cloth. Rest well. Only God knows.' DJ Zan D: "Oh man, what a sad loss. We will forever remember his hilarious videos.'
