Uzalo actress Omuhle Gela who plays Nomaswazi on SABC1's Uzalo has left the show high and dry. This, after a disagreement with the show's powers-that-be concerning her contract. According to a source close to the situation, the angry actress decided not to show up for a shoot this morning after the production company changed some terms on her contract.
THE TERMS ARE SKEWED
The source adds that what annoyed Gela more is that she moved from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal for the show, only to be given a contract that had different terms from what she and the production company had initially agreed to.
"She is fuming. She decided not to show up because she feels disrespected. I don't blame her, how do you agree on certain terms with an actor and then you change the contract. That is unfair," said the source.
SHE WAS UNHAPPY
The model and entrepreneur joined the show in May and her role has kept viewers glued on their screens. According to the source, production has come to a standstill and that they apparently had to cancel shooting.
"It is such a mess people were told not to come to work, I wonder how they are going to cope the coming month because the script revolves around her character " says the source. When called for comment Gela confirmed that she left the show.
"Yes, I've unfortunately made the decision to exit, I can't say much right now but I will certainly agree I am not happy and saw it fit to dismiss myself from the production with immediate effect'
Uzalo publicist Nomfundo Zondi said that she was unaware and would find out from production.
