North West Premier asks police to leave no stone unturned following mass shooting

Eight people have died in a tavern shootout

Eight people were killed at a tavern in Kanana, outside Klerksdorp,yesterday and 12 were left seriously injured. North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi urged the South African Police Service to leave no stone unturned in making sure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book. 


MURDERED IN COLD-BLOOD


The Premier’s spokesperson Sello Tatai explained that five men entered the tavern and a scuffle ensued when they refused to be searched by the establishment?s security. Tatai said suddenly the establishment’s lights were switched off and random shots were fired. 

He said two women and five men died on the scene while another man died hours later in hospital.

?Twelve other people were seriously injured and are receiving treatment in hospital. Of the deceased, four are South Africans and two are from Mozambique and Lesotho respectively. Premier Mokgosi has urged the police to follow all possible leads in the arrest of the perpetrators of this heinous crime,"said Tatai.


HELP THE POLICE


Police in the North West Province have urged anyone with information related to the mass shooting  to come forward with information that could help to apprehend those responsible. 

Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspects took the tavern’s CCTV system, cash from the till and a pool table. The suspects further robbed patrons of their cellphones before fleeing the scene.

?Police are still combing through the scene. The motive is yet to be determined and no arrests have been made,? said Mokgwabone
