Cape Town nightclub Saint Champagne Bar and Lounge left revellers disappointed after Senegalese-American singer Akon, who was billed to perform at the venue, did not show up. Akon was expected to be at the popular club from Tuesday, January 3, to today January 5. Revellers began noticing that something was amiss when he did not show up on Wednesday and did not mention anything on his social media about the gig.They are still confused as to what exactly caused Akon's no-show.

CUSTOMERS SCAMMED?

In a statement issued by Saints, the upmarket club which is known for their exorbitant prices, said they were approached by representatives of Akon with an opportunity for them to book him. "After numerous meetings, we agreed on a sum to be paid. Our brand promise is to make sure that we offer high-value entertainment. We are open tonight, every other night and shall continue to operate as per normal. You, our loyal customers deserve the best and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused," it said.
