TEARS RUN DOWN

DJ and producer Junior Taurus, speaking on behalf of Sumsounds founded by DJ Sumbody, says it took him time to understand DJ Sumbody's intellect. " Relationships are worth more than currency in the world. Half of the people I know in this room, I know because of him,' he said. "I used to give him a hard time about royalty pay-outs but honestly, he paid me a hundred times over and introduced me to people that have funded my ideas. He started companies with his partners and employed me. I am only starting to see his vision now.' Junior Taurus said DJ Sumbody has unheard songs that belong to DJ Sumbody that together with the family will be released to keep his legacy alive. Taking to the podium Cassper Nyovest struggled to hold back the tears as he spoke of his friend and big brother in music. "Me and DJ Sumbody met many years ago and I just knew him as a DJ. I don't know where he took my number from but on the radio, he would call me every week to give me an interview without letting me in on anything before,' he says. They became close after DJ Sumbody booked Cassper at Ayepyep Lounge and informed him that his girlfriend was seeing someone else and he is telling him because he likes him. "That was DJ Sumbody, he wasn't scared of telling the truth that everyone was scared of saying,' he says."From there, we became close. Fast forward, we did Monate Mpolaye and we released a song that I didn't feel but he wouldn't take no for an answer. But when the song was released, it changed everything for everyone.'He performed the song in all of his sets.' Cassper says he was like a father and a friend to him. "He asked very simple questions that were very difficult to answer. After you would re-evaluate your life. He taught me a lot of things I didn't know and the things I had forgotten from my parents, and I was very grateful to have had a friend like that,' he says. "He was one person you could call and be brutally honest with him and he wouldn't take offence No matter howmuch you fought with him, he wouldn't change,' he adds. "I am going to miss him"
