Niece and uncle found floating in river where they'd gone to perform ritual

Two bodies of an uncle and niece were found floating in a river in Eldorado Park in Soweto in Johannesburg. Uncle Thulani Mauixhale (38) and his niece Asisipho Leeu (22) were last seen last week when the two decided to go to a nearby river to perform a certain family ritual at the river. "They have been missing for a week after they had left their house to perform a ritual in a river. It is unclear what really happened as the uncle was supposed to cleanse the young lady. We are not sure about the ritual that the two had gone to perform,"  a source told Zimoja.

CELLPHONES AND.WALLET MISSING

The source further said that on the scene their cellphones were missing, wallet and cash but the car was found at the scene with one window at the back smashed.      "It looked like they were ambushed while they were busy performing the ritual. What we don't understand is that how come other family members never thought that we must come together and search this place. It is clear that they were going around looking for a stream where they were going to perform the ritual."

The victims were driving in this car and the windows were smashed

POLICE CONFIRM THE TRAGEDY

Gauteng SAPS Spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello confirmed the incident. "The two victims were reported missing on 13 October 2022 after they were reportedly last seen going to the river in Eldorado Park to perform rituals. The SAPS Search and Rescue team recovered the bodies of Thulani Mauixhale and AsisiphoLeeu in the river. The bodies were discovered on 17 and 18 October 2022. Another victim had allegedly drowned. The police have opened an inquest docket for further investigation," he said.
