Facebook

Controversial former TV presenter and radio presenter, Ngizwe Mchunu, is at it again. This time around Mchunu who claims to be the King of Amabhinca Nation, a Zulu speaking group that practice their traditional Zulu culture, including wearing the traditional attire and listening to maskandi, nearly exchanged blows with well-known maskandi event organiser ,Geh Ngcobo, during the umembeso of Siphesihle Zulu, who is Khuzeni Mpungose's backup singer. The drama happened outside Empangeni in northern KwaZulu Natal recently.

CIRCULATING VIDEO

In a 30 second video that has been seen by Zimoja, Ngcobo is overheard telling Mchunu not to interfere in a conversation because he wasn't talking to him. In response Mchunu is overheard telling Ngcobo that he must not start with him and utters the Shembe name, insinuating that no one will do anything to him. The situation quickly out of hand but is stopped by award winning maskandi artist, Mpungose, who is Ngcobo's close friend and has been very vocal against Mchunu's behaviour.

NOT A MAN OF MANY WORDS

When Ngizwe was contacted for comment, he asked, "What did you say your name is?" before saying, "Listen I no longer speak to the journalists because I tell them my side of the story and they twist my words. Weeeeee! Angisafuni ukukhuluma nezintathelinje finish (I'm no longer interested in talking to journalists)." Ngcobo and Mpungose blatantly refused to comment on the matter.

SMOKING THE PEACE PIPE

This is not the first time Mchunu has made headlines as early this year he was involved in an altercation with former KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala at the annual Ingoma kaZwelonke Competition, held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Mchunu later opened a case of assault against Zikalala, noting that because he suffers from asthma, he could have died as a result of the premier's attack. Zikalala also laid counter charges of assault and crimen injuriaa gainst Mchunu at the Durban Central Police Station following a fracas between the two. The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government released as tatement that there had been a sequence of insults and provocations by Mchunu aimed at Zikalala. A week after opening criminal charges against each other, Zikalala and Mchunu decided to smoke the peace pipe and withdraw the charges.
