Times are tough for actors in Mzansi with inconsistent work opportunities. Many have been reported to have been living from hand to mouth. With the recent canning of TV shows like The River and The Queen, some actors have found a home in new productions, while many remain unemployed. A guardian angel has come in the form of a new show, 1802: Love Defies Time and previously unemployed actors Vuyo Ngcukana, Lunathi Mampofu and Khaya Kula have bagged jobs in the series produced by Lulu Hela. 

A LOVE STORY?

1802: Love Defies Time is a fascinating fantasy, mythology, and romantic series which stars Khosi played by Sikelelwa Vuyeleni. She accepts Zuko's proposal of marriage and starts her career as an intern doctor. Khosi believes that her life is just beginning and doesn't realise that her fate has already been decided. The impossible situation of these two lovers adds to the tension and conflict, making it an exciting story.

THE CAST

The captivating Xhosa love story follows two star-crossed lovers as they travel through time in search of their destiny. The show will see the likes of Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo acting again after a short break. Her last role on TV was a stand-in role for Zandile Msutwana who played Detective Vuyiswa on The Queen. 1802:Love Defies Time will also star Prince Grootboom, Motheo Ratikane and Amanda Quwe. 

WORKING AGAIN

Former The Queen actor Vuyo Ngcukana was reported to have fallen on hard times after leaving The Queen and his break-up with partner Renate Stuurman. The role of Zuko in 1802:Love Defies Time is said to have come at a much-needed time. Actress Khayakazi Kula also left The Queen under questionable circumstances over two years ago and was cast of Blood Psalms. Actress Lunathi Mampofu joins the cast after the telenovela The River was canned and she also was reported to have fallen on hard times. 1802:Love Defies Time will debut on 1 May.
