A Mpumalanga mother has allegedly stabbed her teenage son to death. The incident happened on Friday night in Volksrust and the suspect is due to appear in court on today. According to SAPS spokesman Colonel Donald Mdhluli the police were alerted by neighbours of a raging fight at a nearby house. "Members went to the scene and upon arrival, they had to break the locked door to gain entry and then they discovered the body of the teenager lying in a pool of blood on the floor in the lounge," said Mdhluli.
SUSPECT FOUND WITH BABY IN LOCKED ROOM
He said the deceased had visible stab wounds on the chest and on his throat. Meanwhile the grandmother of the deceased was found hiding in the toilet and an injured eight months toddler was found in the bedroom with the suspect. The 63 year old also had a stab wound on her lower body. Mdhluli said the 36 year old suspect was then arrested and charged with murder as well as two counts of attempted murder.
DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM AT HAND
The incident was strongly condemned by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela. She urged members of the public to seek professional help whenever they come across challenges and life issues so that such horrific incidents are prevented.
