A 24-year-old loan shark was murdered while using an outdoor toilet on his property in Sonkombo, Ndwedwe outside Durban in KwaZulu Natal on Tuesday night.Policemen from the Ndwedwe contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at night requesting medical assistance for the victim. On arrival, RUSA members discovered a large crowd gathered at the scene. "Medics were escorted to an informal toilet situated approximately 30 metres away from the main building. Upon examination, the victim was found seated on the toilet with his pants around his ankles. He sustained ten (10) gunshot wounds to the anterior part of his body. He showed no signs of life and was declared deceased," read a statement.

FIRING MULTIPLE SHOTS

According to his mother, her son informed her that he needed to use the toilet. "She waited for him in the yard when she noticed two men enter the property. One person remained at the entrance while a second individual approached the toilet. She called out to the man to identify himself when he greeted her. She was unable to identify him due to the dark. He opened the door to the toilet and fired multiple shots at her son.  She then fled into her home. The deceased was confirmed to be a loan shark," the statement reads.

POLICE INVESTIGATING 

The motive for the murder was not immediately established. KZN Police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the incident. "Ndwedwe police are investigating a case of murder that occurred on 13 December 2022. It is alleged that the 25-year-old man was shot and killed by an unknown suspects," said Ngcobo.
