Human rights organisations and political parties at the court hearing of a man linked to the death of a pregnant sex worker

The accused in the matter of the sex workers has abondoned his bail application. Sfiso Mkhwanazi (20) appeared briefly at the Johannesburg Magistrate  court on Monday morning. He is accused of raping and murdering an alleged pregnant sex worker and keeping her corpse  in his father's makeshift warehouse.Although Mkhwanazi only faces one count of murder, five more decomposed bodies were also discovered at the workshop.

ABANDONING BAIL

According to sex workers  the bodies are those of sex workers who went missing after Mkhwanazi fetched them and they were never seen again. They claim that he lured them with money but many of them has started suspecting him because on most Sundays around 4pm he would scout his next victim. A sex worker who wanted to be identified as Sindi said she is happy that the accused abonded his bail. "We really don't feel safe anymore. I believe his father should be the next suspect because there's no way he didn't know what was happening in his business. He should also be held accountable," said Sindi.

I will not disclose or discuss evidential material all that will be heard in court."The matter was postponed to the 7th of December for further investigation. GBV brigades and political parties who support abacimbizi vowed to stand by them until justice is served.
