Lesedi FM current affairs presenter Dimakatso Ratselane's ex-husband attempted to kill her after an argument broke out. Mackenzie Ratselane (41) has since been arrested and found guilty of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
NINE-YEAR SENTENCE
Mackenzie was found guilty of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition. He has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the attempted murder, of which two years are suspended, three years for possession of an unlicensed firearm, and two years in prison for possession of ammunition. Count 2 and 3 will run concurrently with count 1. "Ratselane was later arrested in Ennerdale, Gauteng, after being on the run for six days and has been in custody ever since.'
STABBED 15 TIMES
Mackenzie attempted to kill his ex-wife Dimakatso on 11 February 2021 in Mangaung, Bloemfontein, following a domestic dispute. The two had left their home in Mandela View to pick up their children when an argument broke out along the way and they ended up at an informal settlement, known as Dinaweng where he stabbed her multiple times. Dimakatso was found by the residents of the informal settlement swimming ina pool of blood and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Mackenzie was arrested six days after the incident, in the south of Johannesburg, after being on the run from the police.
