With two million followers on Instagram and 1.2 million on Twitter, Mihlali Ndamase has cemented herself as a social media influencer and brand ambassador. Her brand dates back to when she was 20 years old. But with fame and money also comes criticism and judgement. She has been the victim of social media bullying, trolling, and much hate. With the luxurious image and lavish lifestyle she portrays on social media, many have labelled her a gold digger and blesee.
CYBERBULLYING
She has been attacked several times by former artist manager Nhlamulo "Nota' Baloyi, who once labelled her a prostitute. "Mihlali and Miss XO are prostitutes. Omarhosha. Thankfully she won't be influencing my nieces into her family business. There's absolutely no difference between Samke's mother, Mihlali's mother, and my mother-in-law. Pimping their daughters is a shameful form of retirement investment! "Nota once tweeted. Mihiali has also been victimised by YouTuber, Musa Khawula, who in recent events shamed Mihlali and her mom. "MJ Lite with her hoe mom on a trip to wherever. Paid for by Leeroy Sidambe. Meanwhile, the SASSA security guards are still not paid their full salaries.'
SPEAKING UP
A seemingly frustrated Mihlali has come out in her family's defense, stating that she signed up for what comes with fame but her family did not. "I'm not in the business of explaining myself and responding to BS even when a false narrative is being pushed, because I know my truth and my work speaks for itself," Mihlali says at the moment she is unhappy about her loved ones being attacked. "I signed up for this but my family didn't. The least you can do is leave my parents out of my mess,' she says. "Clearly this is not about blogging anymore, it's personal.' Mihlali made it clear that she comes from a well-off home and was raised with a silver spoon despite the gold-digger allegations. " I've been exposed to luxury since birth. I was dropped off and picked up from school in Mercedes from pre-primary. My first car was a Mercedes. I bought my mom a car at 22 years old. I've never accepted hand-me-downs because I never needed to. Zikhona imoto ekhaya.' Mihlali went on to share some of her achievements and says the poor attempt of discrediting her hard work will not work. "From a successful brand strategist, I'd suggest you find a sustainable way to establish yourself,' she concluded.
