Pupils at Ekwazini High School in Umlazi township in KwaZulu Natal are still coming to terms with the brutal murder of a fellow student who was stabbed to death in a fight over who controls the selling of dagga and drugs at school on Monday. According to two students who witnessed the murder, the pupil was murdered inside the schools premises by another after they fought over the selling of dagga and a drug called Xanax. Xanax is another drug that is currently dominating Umlazi township, after nyaope.
STABBED THREE TIMES ON THE NECK
According to a learner, who didn't want to be named, a fight broke out because the learner who was killed had come back after being suspended and was demanding to continue with his operation at school to sell dagga and Xanax. "He found out there was another learner who had taken over his operation and that made his very angry. They started arguing that the other learner should stop selling dagga and Xanax as he was back. When the other learner saw that the suspended learner was beating him up, he drew a knife and stabbed him three times on the neck," said the learner. Another learner said that the late learner had comeback to school to seek forgiveness from the school principal after he was suspended for a week over selling of dagga and Xanax. "He badly wanted to come back to school and learn while pushing his business. His family survived on the proceeds. It was not by choice that he was a merchant but his family situation forced him. Learners supported business as there is a high rate of school kids who are using Xanax and smoking dagga. It's sad that he had to die like this," the second learner said.

SUSPECT FLEES
KZN SAPS Spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the news of the passing away fo Ngiba. "It is alleged that an 18-year-old pupil was outside the school gate when he was fatally stabbed by a suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The motive for the killing is unknown. A case of murder was opened at Umlazi police station for investigation," said Ngcobo. Department of Education spokesperson Muzi Mhlambi said, "Yes we can confirm the incident of the male learner who was stabbed to death at the gate of Ekwazini High school in G Section in Umlazi and further confirm that that the learner was expelled from the school on the allegations of peddling drugs at the school. He allegedly was stabbed by another male learner from a school in E Section in Umlazi. It is alleged that they were fighting over the territory to peddle the drugs."
