Mandlenkosi High School in Lindelani township,outside Durban, in KwaZulu Natal is mourning the passing away of a matric learner who was stabbed to death by a grade 10 learner inside the school premises on Tuesday. According to eye witnesses, Thabani Vilakazi was doing grade 12 and was preparing to write another one of his final year exams when he was stabbed by a grade 10 learner.
FIGHT INVOLVED A GIRL
His uncle Mpho Vilakazi told Zimoja that they were informed that Thabani was involved in a fist fight with the same boy over a grade 12 learner, who was dating both of them. "We received a call before 11:00 am informing us that we should rush into the school as something had happened. When we arrived we found my nephew with a stab wound on his back. He was already gone and there was nothing we could to wake him up. The boy who is said to have stabbed him was nowhere to be found. We lost a good boy," said Mpho, adding that they have lost good boy in Thabani and that they were hoping that next year he would go to tertiary.

MEC for KZN Department of Education Mbali Frazer confirmed the incident and sent her heartfelt condolences to the family. "On behalf of KZN Department of Education, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family, schools and communities for the tragic loss of our young matric candidate,"said KZN MEC for Education Mbali Frazer.
