Kini Shandu off the market!

Kini Shandu and his family at the lobola negotiations

Former Gagasi FM radio presenter and actor Kini Shandu is officially off the market. This is after he paid lobola for his partner of two years over the weekend.?

LOBOLA NEGOTIATIONS

The TV and radio presenter tells ZiMoja that he cannot wait for the next chapter of his life with his wife-to-be. "I am done with the lobola. Now we look forward to the next step which is umembeso (where the groom gives gifts to the bride's family),' he says. "We don't have a date as yet, but we are in the planning phases." Kini says he and his BTech student partner cannot wait to be a family unit. "We have been together for some time. I knew when I first met her that one day she would be my wife.' The lobola negotiations happened at her home in KwaNongoma in KwaZulu-Natal before making his way home to Richards Bay. "After the negotiations, we did not have a celebration but families got together for a small lunch to welcome each other and to solidify the union,' he says.

FOCUSING ON ACTING

Kini recently bagged another role on the drama series Umkhokha: The Curse, where he plays the role of Ndlovu, leading another faction in the church. Kini has appeared in the SABC drama series Uzalo, where he played the role of Shauwn, a lawyer representing Nkunzi Mhlongo. In a recent interview, he announced that he would be focusing on his acting career . "When I received a call informing me that I had made it to Umkhokha season two, I was excited because that is where I want to channel my energy and focus,' Kini says. "It's not like I have closed my chapter in radio. Radio will forever be my first love but for now, I am more focused on my current gig which is Umkhokha.' Kini says he has received some radio offers but he did not take them as they don't meet his standard. "There is never a time or a year where I have never received any offer to go back to radio. The thing is most of those gigs were clashing with my business. I run Nqaba Media and I also have the Sebenza Women's Awards, which is an event I run annually. Those are my two babies and I am not sacrificing them for anything. When I left Daily Thetha, I told myself that Nqaba Media must be up and running."
