When the family thought they had found all their son's body parts, the killer texted them on Sunday to tell them they were to find the rest of Philasande's body. The Shange family in kwaDukuza says they can't stand the torture any more and are now living in fear.
MISSING
Philasande who was meant to do grade 2 this year went missing after he had gone into a local shop to buy chips at the beginning of the year. He was missing for a week when his family began receiving strange messages threatening them and later informed them of where the boy's body parts were buried. They found the boy's head and leg and two weeks later the alleged killers texted them again to tell them where the rest of the body parts were, and the police discovered them at the spot buried in a shallow grave at a stream in their village.
LIVING IN FEAR
Family representative Ntombi Shange said the family was now living in fear as they think the person who is busy texting them is the killer and that he lives among them. "It is scary now living here. We are sure that the said torturer is someone we know and it's someone who is very close to us. At some point this person sent us a message telling us to move out of the area as they don't want us here. When we try to call back the number that is harassing us goes straight to voicemail. We feel helpless as cops are also battling to catch the person behind all this," she said.
TORTURE
Ntombi said that the person behind the torture sent them an a sms on Sunday and told the Shange not to get too excited as there are more missing body parts that are still to be uncovered. "We got an sms telling us where the rest of the body parts were, we found the arms and other parts but what is confusing is that police came with the dogs but they failed to find anything a few weeks ago.
POLICE INVESTIGATIONS
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident and said the police have discovered body parts suspected to be of the seven-year-old boy who reportedly went missing on 5 January 2023. "The searchfor the missing body parts continues and investigations are underway to ascertain the true identity of the recovered body parts as well as the possible cause of death,' Netshiunda said. He said no suspect has been arrested in the murder. Philasande has still not been buried as his family are still waiting for DNA test results.
