Two police officers who were involved in a heated argument on Wednesday ended up dead after one of them took out his gun, shot his colleague before turning the gun on himself.Colonel Seeny Thaver (55) who was a Provincial Head in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, was allegedly gunned down by his junior Sergeant Patrick Ngonyama (35) on Wednesday morning after an argument.
THEY COULDN'T STAND EACH OTHER
According to people who witnessed the incident , but are not authorised to speak to the media, Thaver and Ngonyama fought over a transfer letter. "Ngonyama seriously wanted to be transferred to another unit since their working conditions weresour. They couldn't stand each other and this is why we ar here today," the source claims
WHO IS MORE SUPERIOR?
Apparently Colonel Thaver wanted Ngonyama to feel that he was superior than him."Being tolerant with one another in a workplace is very important. What happened was a proof that some people are still intolerant. It is a shame that two lives have been lost now and there are families that will go to bed with sad news of fathers who will be not returning home from work. It's sad," the source said.
DEAD ON THE SPOT
It is alleged that Ngonyama killed Thaver and later turned the gun on himself .Both Thaver and Ngonyama died on scene. SAPS Spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed the incident. "The members came to work in the morning as usual. Then at around 7:50 they heard gunshot. Only to find a Colonel Thaver (55) and Sergeant Ngonyama (35) lying on the ground. It is suspected that the Sergeant shot the Colonel and turned the gun on himself. We do not know the motive for the killing currently but we are investigating."
