JOHN LEGEND SHOWS SOME LOVE TO LOCAL STAR

Mthandazo Gaty cannot believe his luck when RnB singer John Legend showed him some love on social media

Award winning musician and songwriter John Legend showed some love to an African musician Mthandazo Gaty after his TikTok duet to a single from his recently released album, Legend. In the duet Gatya adds spins Legend's song, Nervous.It saw people like Black Coffee, Toya Delazy amongst others congratulating the singer for the best verse.So elated was Gatya that he took to Twitter and said, "Thank you all for making sure John Legend sees my duet. Great news is that he loved it and replied, as to what will happen next, we can leave that to God. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.'

Born and raised in a small township called Weilers Farm in the south of Johannesburg, Mthandazo Gatya started singing in primary school as part of the school choir. In 2010 after winning the second prize on Jam Alley, Mthandazo never looked back. After years of patience and hard work Mthandazo finally go this breakthrough with his certified record called Senzeni, which was released in 2020 by Jozi Entertainment and got his first ever SAMA nomination.                                                                        "The road has not been easy as you know but with the Covid-19 pandemic I had to stay in studio and be focused. I would be be grateful if I can be featured by the American based singer John Legend," he says adding that It just happened that he was at his place chilling when he came across a post where John Legend was inviting African artists to do a collaboration on his song. "To be honest  I never expected that It was going to drive him crazy. I appreciate the fact that he retweeted my video. I'm still waiting to hear from on what he is going to do with that feature,' said Gatya.

HEALING PEOPLE

It won't be the first feature with an International artist as he recently scored himself a collaboration with a UK based multi-platinum selling singer and rapper Simba. "Healing people through music is my goal. I want people to know that no matter what challenges they are facing, giving up is never a choice. You just have to soldier on and hang in there. I will be releasing my EP very soon called Journey To Infinity,' hesaid.
