The City of Johannesburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda believes that’s killing of forensic investigator was an assassination.
EXPOSING CORRUPTION
Bennedict Sithole (55) a forensic investigator and former Hawks detective who was attached to the City of Johannesburg’s group forensics and investigation services unit was killed in a drive by shooting in downtown Johannesburg while on his way home last week Thursday. Sithole is said to have been investigating sensitive corruption-related cases. Mayor Gwamanda urged the police to leave no stone unturned in uncovering Sithole’s killers whom he believes were assassins. "As a city, we are most grateful for his diligent service and contribution in our efforts to root out malfeasance," said Gwamanda.
THE CITY WILL WON’T STOP PROBING
Gwamanda said police are still searching for the killers. "While all possible leads must be assessed, investigated and tested, this must be done with due diligence and sensitivity to the family and colleagues of the deceased to avoid placing the lives of others, especially Mr. Sithole’s colleagues, at risk," Gwamanda said. He added: "Without fear or doubt, I can expressly confirm that the city will not be deterred in its efforts to fight against corruption and malfeasance. If indeed Mr. Sithole is a victim of his contribution to this effort, in his name we will ensure that we flush out the air from the chambers of our city for those who are corrupt and involved in nefarious activities," Gwamanda concluded.
