Their divorce has been highly publicised. Actress Enhle MbaliMlotshwa has in the past detailed the alleged abuse she endured from her estranged husband and popular DJ, Nkosinathi ?DJ Black Coffee' Maphumulo. In a statement, she released last year, Enhle labelled her estranged husband an abusive cheater. "For the most part, I have been silent in an effort to amicably resolve these challenges within my marriage as well as to limit the effects of a toxic environment on my growing children," the statement says. "However, as I have grown to realise, the cycle of abuse is ongoing and relentless as it feeds off of fear.
Enhle says she is no longer afraid to speak up. " I am no longer fearful, and it is with this renewed sense of self that I wish to recount the numerous incidents on which he has beaten, berated, and rendered me broken and unworthy." She adds that in her marriage, she endured gaslighting, emotional and verbal abuse, physical abuse, financial abuse, and severe extramarital affairs that led her to be admitted into a facility and treated for depression. "The last five years have been filled with agony and my children have been the unfortunate witnesses to the incidents of abuse in our home" She adds Black Coffee has continually used intimidation and financial muscle in an attempt to silence her. "I stand firm in my assertions; I would never exploit domestic violence and waste the court's time for my own benefit. It is my sole wish to ensure that by me speaking out about my experience amongst so many other voices that a more determined and unbiased approach to the resolution."
MEN MUST SPEAK UP
Black Coffee has recently vented on social media about how the abuse allegations changed his life for the worse. "The day my ex accused me of physically harming her, nothing was the same," he says. "It has left a heavy void in my heart a void I can't shake off. I lost a big part of myself; no court of law could ever fix the pain and shame I still carry today. He went on to say that his late father was abusive and Enhle used that against him. "My late father was abusive. To see her continue to ride that wave as a victim, using me and using some of my tweets about it on that swimwear as an activist is quite dark and irresponsible. She knows people who abused her she must confront them and leave me alone." After receiving messages of support from his fans, Black Coffee says he wishes other men could open up about depression and issues that affect them. "Thank you for the positive messages I'll be fine. Going through some of the comments makes one realize why most men bottle things up and some even take their lives. I hope you listen and offer support to men in your lives when they show vulnerability."
