It is that time of the year again when people take time off from working hard and unwind with families. For some celebrities, this is the busiest time of the year when they are booked and busy. Many people will take a step back to both reflect on the year that has passed and to spend quality time with family is the season and friends while unwrapping presents under the Christmas tree is the season and enjoying a good home-cooked meal. We asked how some of Mzansi's celebrities plan to celebrate the festive season and some of their special holiday traditions.

For Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp and her family, the festive season is atime when everyone comes together and takes a much-needed breather."For us, any reason to jump on an airplane or to see our parents or seeour family is a very festive occasion and usually one with a lot ofgratitude, charity, and giving gifts. We don't leave festive and gratitudeto the festive season and it's something we do throughout theyear,' Elana shares. The Jacaranda FM personality adds that the festive seasoncomes with a whole bunch of traditions. "On the 22nd ofDecember, we invite close friends over where I make the turkey and some ofmy friends, who are professional chefs, bring some dishes and weenjoy lunch on the veranda,' she adds. "Around the 23rd we have apicnic for the kids, on the 24th we visit a farm we love, andon Christmas morning, we exchange gifts with our ouma and oupas. Myparents go to church in the morning, we make music around the pianoafter that and we always have a festive tea at our houseevery Christmas afternoon.'
Zakes Bantwini, Grammy-nominated singerand producer
For 'Asanda' hitmaker Zakes Bantwini, the festive season is hisbusiest of the year. Although the star does make sure to spend timewith his family on Christmas, he often spends this time of yeartravelling the country and connecting with his fans at shows. Christmas is a pretty big deal at KriyaGangiah's household. Around mid-November, Kriya unboxes her many festivedecorations and big Christmas tree and completely transforms herhome. "For us, Christmas time is about the family. It's a time to forgetabout the stresses of the year and spend some time with loved ones,'Kriya says adding that she often uses this time to reflect. As for howshe's planning on spending Christmas, "this year is we're doing atraditional South African Christmas braai with the family at home.'

ForCarol Ofori, Christmas is a time to enjoy with family?" and she plans ondoing just that this year. "This is the first Christmas inyears wearecelebrating without lockdown, so I am super excited! My familyiscoming to visit and it's going to be a beautiful one,' Carol shares. "IamcookingChristmas lunch and I am going to make a whole array ofdelicious mealsfrom scratch! If this was 'Come Dine With Me, I wouldtotally be winningbecause everything will be made from scratch. I ampraying for good weather in Durbanbecause it hasn't been great for thepast couple of yearsand we love to spendthe day outside by the poolwith good people and good food, opening up presents.I love spending timewith my kids andextended family and enjoying the loveandremembering that Christ was born on this day.'
